About this episode

Shaun Haney, founder of Real Agriculture (Canadian ag media) and host of Real Ag Radio on SiriusXM, joins Vance for an Ag Tribes Report covering Trump's cabinet picks and their implications for Canadian renewable fuels and trade, a Real Agriculture-authored story on farmers cutting equipment/input spending heading into 2025, and Canadian rail/port/postal strikes resolved via binding arbitration. The Bitcoin-land segment lands on Bitcoin crossing toward $100K (up from $87,273 the prior week) compared to $15,000 CAD/acre irrigated Lethbridge farmland, with Vance pitching Alberta's stranded oil as a candidate for Bitcoin mining/monetization. The episode's centerpiece is Haney's Peter Thiel Paradox — a genuinely controversial belief that Canadian confederation will eventually break up, with Alberta leading a separatist push — which earns Vance's highest-ever score (9/10, explicitly "our official highest score"). Haney's worthy adversary pick, Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow together, frames both partisan media figures as functionally identical bubble-reinforcers rather than genuine ideological opponents.

“We can really break it down into small amounts and at some point owning one Bitcoin would be like, well why don't you own a billion dollars? Or why don't you own a million dollars? What you want is some portion of it, but if you don't own any Bitcoin, you are essentially shorting Bitcoin. So I would say at least buy some, the, the key is just to buy a little bit and get in the game just to learn how it works.”
“Right now you guys are not allowed to export your oil, but you are able to, if you could find a way to burn what you are doing right there in Alberta and then just convert it into Bitcoin, it makes energy be digital. You get to actually extract the value of that energy out and sell it into the financial markets.”
“It's so hard to listen to things that you don't agree with and then you have the challenge of like, do I not agree with them because they're just not very sophisticated arguments or do I not agree with them because like, you know, they have something to say that's worth listening to. And then, then you find out like, well do I not agree with him because he is actually smarter than me. And I, that's what I love. So I'm always looking for those.”
